Keeping Dirty Glasses Clean
Bad eyesight is something several people in this world have.
According to http://www.globaleyesightnow.org, “6 out of 10 people in the developed world wear glasses, contact lenses, or have had corrective eye surgery.”
There are also some glasses wearers out there who go back and forth between contacts and glasses. There are certain days after repeated contact usage where the dual-wearer’s eyes begin to hurt a bit and while that is normal, that also means the wearer should switch to glasses as a way to rest their eyes.
But even explained in detail, wearing glasses is far from simple. Keeping dirty glasses clean seems virtually impossible.
There are plenty of sprays out there which friends and family may swear by but in my personal experience, I’ve found that none of those pricey sprays really do the trick.
I gave up on the idea of eyeglasses spray and started washing my glasses with water and dish soap. While this did not keep the lenses on my glasses clean throughout the day, it very much did keep my glasses clean for much longer than the typical glasses cleaning sprays I’d tried using before.
Out of half-desperation and half thinking I was onto something, I decided to do some digging. After browsing through what seemed like endless Pinterest pages, I found a recipe for Do It Yourself or DIY Eyeglasses Cleaning Solution.
The recipe was found on http://www.creativehomemaking.com and lists these as the necessary items to make your own eyeglasses spray: One empty travel-sized spray bottle, rubbing alcohol, some liquid dish soap and water.
While the post very much praised Dawn Dish Soap as the soap of choice for not only this eyeglasses cleaner but for other DIY projects, I chose to use what I had on hand at home, and this was Palmolive Dish Soap. Though, on that note the post explains that any brand of dish soap can be used.
I decided to grab two empty travel-sized spray bottles so that if this worked for me, I could make another bottle for my glasses-wearing best friend and roommate.
So once I had the time, I laid out my materials and got to work.
Once I had everything mixed, I put the lid back onto my bottle and shook the bottles gently. It was time to try out the completed spray.
The end result of clear glasses frames that I didn’t need to constantly clean throughout the day spoke for itself. But, I now realize that cleaning my glasses once daily with this much stronger formula I now have will work wonders. And, that was when I got to mixing and filling the other empty spray bottle for my best friend.
May this information help all glasses wearers out there to cope with their dirty glasses in some way!
